The Best Free Zone in Dubai for Company Setup (2026)

"Which free zone is the best in Dubai?" is the wrong question. Every free zone we work with wins on some criteria. The right question is: "Which free zone is the best for my activity, my budget, and my visa count?"
Here is how we actually pick, inside Establishy, when we run a benchmark for a new client.
The 5 Dubai free zones that handle 80% of founder setups
| Free zone | Best for | From (AED) | Setup time |
|---|---|---|---|
| IFZA | Consultancy, SaaS, e-commerce, general services | 12,900 | 5–7 days |
| Meydan Free Zone | Founders who want a premium Dubai address, fast licence | 14,999 | 1–3 days |
| DMCC | Commodities, crypto, premium brand, strong banking | 34,340 | 7–10 days |
| JAFZA | Logistics, heavy industry, import / export, multinationals | 14,500 | 7–14 days |
| DSO (Dubai Silicon Oasis) | Tech, software, R&D, light manufacturing | 12,500 | 5–10 days |
There are more — Dubai South (aviation, e-commerce fulfilment), DIFC (regulated finance), TECOM cluster (media, healthcare, education), DAFZA — but for most founders the five above cover the decision.
IFZA — the default for service businesses
Who it is for: Consultants, marketing agencies, IT services, SaaS, trading companies, holding companies, online businesses. Basically, anything service-shaped.
Why we pick it: No paid-up share capital, 1,000+ permitted activities, up to 7 visas on the basic package, mature banking relationships, licensed to operate from a Dubai Silicon Oasis address (a real Dubai free zone, not a sublet).
Cost: From AED 12,900 (licence only) or AED 17,500 with one visa included.
When not to pick: If you need a premium-branded address for pitching investors — DMCC or Meydan read better. If you are importing physical goods in volume — JAFZA.

Meydan Free Zone — the fast, premium choice
Who it is for: Founders who want a recognisable Dubai address, a licence in 1–3 days, and a fully digital onboarding flow.
Why we pick it: Same-day or next-day licence issuance for most activities, premium Nad Al Sheba / Meydan address, and a dual-licence option that lets you operate mainland-side too.
Cost: From AED 14,999, AED 17,500+ with visa.
When not to pick: If budget is tight, Meydan is not the cheapest in Dubai. If you need warehouse / industrial space, use JAFZA or Dubai South.

DMCC — the premium free zone for trade and finance
Who it is for: Commodities traders, crypto and DLT businesses, premium brands, family offices, businesses that want the strongest banking pipeline in Dubai.
Why we pick it: Global #1 Free Zone by the Financial Times (every year since 2015). UAE banks accept DMCC applications faster than most other zones. JLT (Jumeirah Lakes Towers) location — metro-accessible, 60+ towers, strong commercial ecosystem. Full crypto and DLT licensing framework.
Cost: From AED 34,340 + office rent. Budget AED 50,000–80,000 year one.
When not to pick: If you are bootstrapping — DMCC is a premium choice. The network and banking access justifies it for the right profile.

JAFZA — the logistics and industrial backbone
Who it is for: Import / export, logistics, manufacturing, oil and gas services, heavy industrial, multinationals needing a UAE HQ.
Why we pick it: Direct access to Jebel Ali Port — the busiest man-made deepwater port in the world — and Al Maktoum International Airport. 9,500+ companies including a quarter of the Fortune Global 500. Land plots, warehouses, showrooms, and onsite customs.
Cost: From AED 14,500 for a basic licence. Realistic year-one cost with office / warehouse: AED 35,000–120,000.
When not to pick: For a service business. The whole value of JAFZA is the physical infrastructure — if you don't need it, do not pay for it.

DSO — the tech-focused free zone
Who it is for: Software companies, R&D, IoT, deep tech, light manufacturing, regtech.
Why we pick it: Integrated tech-community setup — office, residential, retail, and education in one master-planned park. DTEC startup ecosystem with events and accelerator access. Also Establishy's own office — we know the zone inside out.
Cost: From AED 12,500, AED 14,500+ with visa.
When not to pick: If your activity is not tech-adjacent. DSO is also slightly further out than JLT or Downtown — factor in commute if your team is Dubai-based.

The decision framework we use
- Is the activity regulated (finance, insurance)? → DIFC or ADGM. Stop.
- Do you need physical trade infrastructure (warehouse, port, airport)? → JAFZA or Dubai South.
- Is budget the primary constraint, under AED 15,000? → RAKEZ, SPC, Ajman, or Shams (outside Dubai, same UAE trade licence).
- Do you want a premium Dubai address and fast setup? → Meydan or DMCC.
- Everything else service-shaped? → IFZA or DSO.
What about the other 15 Dubai free zones?
They exist, and for specific sectors they beat the five above — TECOM DMC for media production studios, DHCC for healthcare licences, Dubai Design District for fashion and design, TwoFour54's Dubai equivalent for broadcasting. Establishy has run setups in all of them. Tell us the activity and we will recommend the right one — including if the answer is "not Dubai".
FAQ
Which is the cheapest free zone in Dubai? IFZA at AED 12,900 is the cheapest Dubai-proper free zone licence for most service activities. Outside Dubai, Ajman and SPC (Sharjah) go as low as AED 5,555–5,750 for the same UAE-level licence recognition.
Can I get a Dubai residence visa with a free zone company? Yes. Every operational free zone issues residence visas for shareholders and employees. Visa count depends on package and office.
Does the free zone affect my corporate tax? It affects whether you can claim 0% on Qualifying Income as a Qualifying Free Zone Person (QFZP). All free zones are eligible for the QFZP regime — but qualification is about the activity and customer mix, not just the zone.
Can I change free zones later? Not by transfer. You liquidate one and set up in the other. Factor this in before you commit.
Tell Establishy the activity, visa count, and budget ceiling. We will come back inside a business hour with two or three zones side by side, with real numbers for your case — not the brochure price. WhatsApp +971 58 583 3550.
